On 2 May 2025, a technical visit to Keban Dam was attended by 23 students. In addition to Associate Professor Dr. Hakan ÇELİK, who led the trip, Research Assistant Bünyamin ERGEZGİN accompanied the participants for on-site inspections.
During the visit, students not only learned about the engineering features of the dam structure but also:
Observed the arrangement of automation panels and sensors in the turbine hall
Witnessed how real-time data flow is managed in the power plant’s control center
Discussed the impact of water regulation systems on energy generation
The trip provided participants with an up-close introduction to Keban Dam’s hydroelectric generation facilities, turbine control systems, and SCADA infrastructure.
This field trip proved invaluable for bridging theoretical coursework with practical application, deepening understanding of engineering solutions in the energy sector, and fostering the students’ interdisciplinary perspective. Participants returned with strengthened experience in dam engineering and energy automation.
